Biography
Ekkel is a Norwegian producer and DJ whose sound reaches deep into the psychedelic lineage of Nordic electronic music. Moving through trance, breaks and percussive trips, his productions channel the exploratory spirit of ’90s electronics while continually twisting it into new forms.
His debut album Me & The Ghost arrives via Kalahari Oyster Cult in November 2026. Rooted in the early-2000s Scandinavian progressive tradition, the record draws on the Swedish-Danish axis of labels such as Spiral Trax and Creamcrop while developing a distinctly contemporary language of its own. Unhurried, groove-forward and stripped back, Me & The Ghost moves through dank forest-floor minimalism, insectoid detail and heavy low-end pressure into eerier, more levitational territory. Disembodied vocals, early synth experimentation and moments of cosmic melancholy expand the record beyond the dance floor while its tightly wound tension remains throughout.
Ekkel is also a co-founder of Norway’s Ute crew, which grew from smoke-filled mornings on Norwegian forest floors to showcases at Bassiani and bush parties in Australia. Founded in 2017, the label has built a cult-like following for its approach to psychedelic trance, alongside the long-form downtempo and chill-out sounds explored through its sub-labels Sinensis and Translusid.
Collaboration runs throughout his work. Together with Mikkel Rev and Oprofessionell, he forms Solar Alliance, a live project built around extended trance journeys recorded and arranged in a matter of days. His involvement in Ipeo and The Dosadi Experiments, alongside newer projects such as Alvar and H25, reflects a restless approach to production and an ever-evolving musical language.
In the booth, Teo has developed a reputation as a marathon DJ, both solo and alongside Marius Bø as Accelerationsim, regularly playing for hours on end and turning dance floors into states of mass euphoria. From an infamous 18-hour closing at Outsider Festival with Ute to extended closing sets at Bassiani with Marius Bø, he is trusted for instinctive, on-the-spot selections and an ability to take a room somewhere unexpected.
